Introduction
This five-day course teaches practical budgeting skills for finance teams and budget owners. Participants learn how to build budgets, run forecasts, perform variance analysis, and tighten budget controls. The emphasis is on techniques you can apply immediately to improve forecast accuracy, reduce overspend, and make budget decisions with clear assumptions.
Objectives
2. Produce and maintain rolling forecasts, updating them with actuals and delivering a revised forecast within an operational reporting cycle.
3. Perform variance analysis to identify root causes and quantify corrective actions and savings opportunities.
4. Design and implement simple approval workflows and internal controls to reduce budget leakage and improve compliance.
5. Prepare and present budget proposals and scenario analyses to stakeholders, clearly stating assumptions, sensitivities, and recommended decisions.
